Penelitian dilakukan dengan tujuan menganalisis jumlahh pendapatan dan taraf kesejahteraan petani padi di Desa Katiku Luku, Kecamatan Matawai La Pawu, Kabupaten Sumba Timur. Desa Katiku Luku dipilih dengan pertimbangan memiliki mayoritas penduduk yang bekerja sebagai petani, serta memiliki produksi padinya merupakan yang terbesar kedua di Kecamatan Matawai La Pawu. Analisis pendaptan dilakukan untuk mengetahui besaran pendapatan, serta mengukur taraf kesejahteraan rumah tangga petani padi di Desa Katiku Luku. Hasil analisis menggambarkan keadaan dimana besaran pendapatan dari rumah tangga petani di Desa Katiku Luku adalah Rp43.137.226/ha/tahun. Hasil analisis kesejahteraan petani menegaskan bahwa rumah tangga petani padi di Desa Katiku Luku, Kecamatan Matawai La Pawu, Kabupaten Sumba Timur berada pada kategori sejahtera, dengan rata-rata nilai 15,55.
