Abstract

Posyandu is a community based health service that plays a vital role in improving maternal and child health. However, the participation of mothers with toddlers in Posyandu activities in Sukowetan Village remains relatively low. Previous studies have addressed leadership and participation separately, but research specifically examining the application of situational leadership by Posyandu cadres at the village level remains limited. This study aims to analyze the application of situational leadership in increasing maternal participation. This study uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation and in-depth interviews. The results show that the head of the Posyandu cadres has successfully applied the four styles of situational leadership according to Hersey and Blanchard, namely commanding, persuading, participating, and delegating. These leadership styles proved effective in encouraging behavioral change, increasing attendance, and fostering active participation among mothers. Therefore, situational leadership has proven to be an effective approach in increasing community participation in Posyandu activities.
