This study aims to evaluate the development of the literature on Challenges and Opportunities, Community Empowerment, and Regional Autonomy, as well as to identify thematic patterns, key actors, and dominant publication sources. The approach used is bibliometric analysis with data drawn from various indexed publication databases, covering the period 1980–2025. The analysis process includes mapping publication trends, citations, top authors, journal sources, influential documents, keywords, and the age distribution of publications. The results indicate that publication trends are not linear but rather experience waves of increases and decreases influenced by external factors such as policies, political dynamics, and global issues. The 2021–2024 period emerged as the most productive phase, marked by a simultaneous surge in publications across all three themes. “Community Empowerment” demonstrated more stable publication trends, while “Challenges and Opportunities” and “Regional Autonomy” tended to experience sudden spikes. Keyword analysis reveals the dominance of the terms “autonomy,” “community,” and “empowerment,” while analysis of authors and publication sources indicates clear segmentation across topics. In conclusion, this study provides an up-to-date knowledge map, charts the academic landscape, and identifies thematic focuses that can serve as strategic references for policy development and future research directions.
