Abstract

Abstract

Road damage is one of the infrastructure issues that can negatively affect traffic safety, comfort, and flow efficiency. In Tulungagung Regency, several road segments show notable deterioration, particularly in the form of surface waves, cracks, and pavement deformation that are clearly visible in areas with high traffic activity. This study aims to analyze the types of road damage occurring in the region and to identify their impacts on road users and the surrounding community. The research was conducted through literature review, non-measurement visual observation, and the collection of public complaints from residents who frequently travel through the affected roads. The findings indicate that the dominant types of damage include surface undulation and structural cracking, both of which may increase accident risks, reduce driving comfort, and slow down traffic flow, especially during peak hours. Furthermore, deteriorated road conditions contribute to higher vehicle operating costs and growing dissatisfaction among the public. This study provides an initial overview of road damage conditions in Tulungagung and may serve as a reference for future research and road improvement planning by relevant authorities.

Abstrak

Kerusakan jalan raya merupakan salah satu masalah infrastruktur yang berpotensi mengganggu keselamatan, kenyamanan, dan kelancaran lalu lintas. Di Kabupaten Tulungagung, beberapa ruas jalan menunjukkan kerusakan yang cukup signifikan, terutama berupa gelombang, retak, dan deformasi permukaan yang terlihat jelas pada area-area dengan aktivitas lalu lintas yang tinggi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis bentuk-bentuk kerusakan jalan yang terjadi pada wilayah tersebut serta mengidentifikasi dampaknya terhadap pengguna jalan maupun lingkungan sekitar. Metode penelitian dilakukan melalui studi literatur, observasi visual non-pengukuran, dan pengumpulan informasi dari keluhan masyarakat yang sering melintasi lokasi. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa kerusakan dominan berupa gelombang permukaan dan retak-retak struktural yang dapat meningkatkan risiko kecelakaan, menurunkan kenyamanan berkendara, serta memperlambat arus kendaraan terutama pada jam padat. Selain itu, kondisi jalan yang rusak turut berkontribusi pada meningkatnya biaya operasional kendaraan dan menimbulkan ketidakpuasan masyarakat. Studi ini memberikan gambaran awal terkait kondisi kerusakan jalan di Tulungagung dan dapat menjadi referensi bagi penelitian lanjutan serta perencanaan perbaikan oleh pihak berwenang.
